Jonah is arguably the most successful prophet in all of Israel. He was just one day into his 3 days of preaching repentance and the people of Ninevah believed God and proclaimed a fast. All of them from the king to the pauper, the soldier to the prisoner, even the children put on sack cloth and began acts of repentance. They all believed God and returned to Him with humble hearts. This must have been spectaculor to witness. Do we fell sorrow for our sins like this? Do we realize teh harm we cause ourselves in sinning? does it take a great calamnity or chastizement to open our minds to God? "At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here." ............................................................................................................................................................. Jonás es posiblemente el profeta más exitoso de todo Israel. Apenas llevaba tres días predicando el arrepentimiento, y el pueblo de Nínive creyó a Dios y proclamó un ayuno. Todos, desde el rey hasta el pobre, desde el soldado hasta el prisionero, incluso los niños, se vistieron de luto y comenzaron actos de arrepentimiento. Todos creyeron en Dios y regresaron a Él con humildad. Debió ser un espectáculo presenciarlo. ¿Sentimos así nuestro pesar por nuestros pecados? ¿Nos damos cuenta del daño que nos causamos al pecar? ¿Se necesita una gran calamidad o castigo para abrir nuestra mente a Dios? «Cuando sea juzgada la gente de este tiempo, los hombres de Nínive se levantarán el día del juicio para condenarla, porque ellos se convirtieron con la predicación de Jonás, y aquí hay uno que es más que Jonás».
