"The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves." I find it interesting that in the same breath that Jesus teaches us to pray for vocations for more workers in the vineyard, He also cautions us about the world that is looking to devour us. It is not easy in the world as it is today to live a life of dedicated service to God. The world tends to prevent the sincere desire to serve others by forcing us to think like the world thinks and to live the way the world wants us to live. We need to be counter-cultural. We as Christians must be more focused upon the good of others and upon the good work of the Father rahter than achievement, or self-gain. ............................................................................................................................................................. “La cosecha es mucha y los trabajadores pocos. Rueguen, por lo tanto, al dueño de la mies que envíe trabajadores a sus campos. Pónganse en camino; los envío como corderos en medio de lobos”. Me parece interesante que, al mismo tiempo que Jesús nos enseña a orar por vocaciones para más obreros en la viña, también nos advierte sobre el mundo que busca devorarnos. No es fácil en el mundo actual vivir una vida de servicio dedicado a Dios. El mundo tiende a impedir el deseo sincero de servir a los demás obligándonos a pensar como el mundo piensa y a vivir como el mundo quiere que vivamos. Tenemos que ser contraculturales. Nosotros, como cristianos, debemos centrarnos más en el bien de los demás y en la buena obra del Padre que en los logros o en la ganancia personal.
