Joseph brothers were jealous of him and resented how close he was to their father, Jacob. They plotted to kill him and instead sold him into slavery with the hopes it would be his death. Joseph became the pharaoh's advisor and eventually the pharaoh named him as governor over all the land. His wise administration helped all of Egypt survive the great famine and Joseph through his work as governor eventually had his family restored to him. Joseph displays a magnanimous forgiving heart as he proclaims to his brothers that God intended this whole debacle for good. "Do not be distressed, and do not reproach yourselves for having sold me here. It was really for the sake of saving lives that God sent me here ahead of you." .............................................................................................................................................................
