Why are we so frustrated at this parable of the generous landowner? I think that the answer is twofold. Firstly, it certainly comes down to personality. There are some people in this world who genuinely love to see good things happen to others. They are the kind of person who delights in others good fortune and find satisfaction in seeing another's joy. I want to be that person; I try to be that person; but in all honesty, I am not fully there yet! There is a desire for things to be fair. If they got it then I should get it. Why would they get something I would not? It is not "fair." But the real reason we get upset about this parable is that we tend think it is about money, a daily wage. In this parable a daily wage at the end of the work day is actually an analogy for Heaven. Jesus is not telling us to give the same wage to each person regardless of how long or how hard they worked. He is actually telling us that someone who gets to the end of their life having done the Lord's work will be given Eternal Life regardless of how long they may have been on the right path. ............................................................................................................................................................. ¿Por qué estamos tan frustrados con esta parábola del generoso terrateniente? Pero la verdadera razón por la que nos enojamos con esta parábola es que tendemos a pensar que se trata de dinero, un salario diario. En esta parábola, un salario diario al final de la jornada laboral es en realidad una analogía del cielo. Jesús no nos está diciendo que demos el mismo salario a cada persona sin importar cuánto tiempo o cuánto hayan trabajado. En realidad, nos está diciendo que alguien que llega al final de su vida después de haber hecho la obra del Señor recibirá la Vida Eterna sin importar cuánto tiempo haya estado en el camino correcto.
