Today's Gospel passage captures a moment of tremendous tenderness between Jesus and the man with leprosy. The man comes before Jesus and begs him, "If you wish, you can make me clean.” The scriptures tell us that Jesus was moved to the depths of His being and with compassion touched the man saying, "I do will it. Be made clean.” This scene brings a tear to my eye. As a leper this man cannot come in contact with any other person. No one will talk to him or even come with in 50 feet of him. He has not been touched since receiving the sentence of his disease. His question is more than just one of healing. He is essentially asking Jesus if cares about him. He wants to know if he matters to Jesus. this is why Jesus' response is so very tender. He touches him. I imagine Christ embracing him and saying, my child of course I care what happens to you. I love you very much and do not want you to suffer. Jesus says all this as He says, “I do will it. Be made clean.” There are sicknesses and maladies in this world that are far greater than those that afflict the body. The sickness within us is the far greater ailment. Sin which kills the soul is our leprosy. May we seek out Jesus and ask Him to heal us, for He does will it. El pasaje del Evangelio de hoy captura un momento de tremenda ternura entre Jesús y el leproso. El hombre se presenta ante Jesús y le ruega: “Si tú quieres, puedes curarme”. Las escrituras nos dicen que Jesús fue conmovido hasta lo más profundo de su ser y con compasión tocó al hombre diciendo: “¡Sí quiero: Sana!” Esta escena me conmueve profundamente. Como leproso, este hombre no puede entrar en contacto con ninguna otra persona. Nadie hablará con él ni siquiera se acercará a 50 pies de él. No ha sido tocado desde que recibió la sentencia de su enfermedad. Su pregunta es más que una simple curación. Básicamente le está preguntando a Jesús si se preocupa por él. Quiere saber si le importa a Jesús. por eso la respuesta de Jesús es tan tierna. Lo toca. Me imagino a Cristo abrazándolo y diciendo, hijo mío, por supuesto que me importa lo que te pase. Te quiero mucho y no quiero que sufras. Jesús dice todo esto como dice: “¡Sí quiero: Sana!” Hay enfermedades y dolencias en este mundo que son mucho mayores que las que afligen al cuerpo. La enfermedad dentro de nosotros es la dolencia mucho mayor. El pecado que mata el alma es nuestra lepra. Que busquemos a Jesús y le pidamos que nos sane, porque Él lo quiere. Él nos sanará.
