As we continue today to read the Bread of Life discourse, we see Jesus become even more clear about His origins and mission, and the precious gift that He is to the world. He is the Bread of Life, the Son of the Father, who comes down from Heaven. Jesus is continuing to reveal the idea of the Eucharist to us, and He makes an even bolder statement than He has made in the past 3 Sundays readings. Last week he told us, “The bread that I give is my flesh for the life of the world.” And today, we read an even further clarification, “My body is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” Jesus is really and truly present in the Eucharist. It is not a mere symbolic gesture, but his flesh given for the life of the world. Oh Lord, how we long for all who believe in You to receive you sacramentally and that all who receive you may believe in your real and true presence. ............................................................................................................................................................. Al continuar leyendo hoy el discurso del Pan de Vida, vemos que Jesús se vuelve aún más claro acerca de sus orígenes y su misión, y el precioso regalo que Él es para el mundo. Él es el Pan de Vida, el Hijo del Padre, que desciende del Cielo. Jesús continúa revelándonos la idea de la Eucaristía, y hace una declaración aún más audaz que la que ha hecho en las lecturas de los últimos tres domingos. La semana pasada nos dijo: “Y el pan que yo les voy a dar es mi carne para que el mundo tenga vida”. Y hoy, leemos una aclaración aún mayor: “Mi carne es verdadera comida y mi sangre es verdadera bebida. El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre, permanece en mí y yo en él”. Jesús está muy real y verdaderamente presente en la Eucaristía. No es un mero gesto simbólico, sino su carne entregada para la vida del mundo. Oh, Señor, cuánto anhelamos que todos los que creen en Ti te reciban sacramentalmente y que todos los que te reciben crean en tu presencia real y verdadera.
