(Today is my parents 51st wedding anniversary, please keep them in your prayers!) Though today is the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Oct 2 is also the feast day of the Guardian Angels. Having a devotion and affection for angels, I find myself reflecting quite often on guardian angels. Their very existence teaches me three lessons. 1) How much is there going on around us that we cannot perceive? There is more to this world than we can perceive with our senses. 2) How important are we to God that he would create an entire spiritual being just to help us to return to God? If you ever feel unimportant or unnoticed, just remember that the guardian angel at your side is there to help you to be with God forever. 3) How intense is the angels love for God and desire to do God's will? They must be so perfect in their desire for God's will that they would willingly and readily leave His presence and be temporarily exiled from heaven to be by our side in order to help us to return to God. This is why one of the greatest acts you can ever do for your Guardian Angel is to go to Mass or spend time in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. This brings them as close to the Godhead as they can possibly get while remaining faithful to their duty. ............................................................................................................................................................. (Hoy es el 51.º aniversario de bodas de mis padres, ¡manténgalos en sus oraciones!) Aunque hoy es el 27.º domingo del tiempo ordinario, el 2 de octubre también es la fiesta de los Ángeles Guardianes. Teniendo devoción y afecto por los ángeles, me encuentro reflexionando bastante a menudo sobre los ángeles de la guarda. Su misma existencia me enseña tres lecciones. 1) ¿Cuánto sucede a nuestro alrededor que no podemos percibir? Hay más en este mundo de lo que podemos percibir con nuestros sentidos. 2) ¿Qué importancia tenemos para Dios que él cree un ser espiritual completo solo para ayudarnos a regresar a Dios? Si alguna vez te sientes insignificante o inadvertido, recuerda que el ángel de la guarda a tu lado está ahí para ayudarte a estar con Dios para siempre. 3) ¿Qué tan intenso es el amor de los ángeles por Dios y el deseo de hacer la voluntad de Dios? Deben ser tan perfectos en su deseo de la voluntad de Dios que de buena gana dejarían Su presencia y serían exiliados temporalmente del cielo para estar a nuestro lado y ayudarnos a regresar a Dios. Es por eso que uno de los mejores actos que puede hacer por su ángel de la guarda es ir a misa o pasar tiempo en adoración ante el Santísimo Sacramento. Esto los acerca lo más posible a la Deidad mientras permanecen fieles a su deber.
