This Sunday our readings conspire to remind us that most of us need a little help when it comes to the things of God. Samuel had Eli to teach him how to listen and how to pray. "Eli understood that the LORD was calling the youth. So he said to Samuel, Go to sleep, and if you are called, reply, Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening." Samuel followed the advice of Eli and had his first of many conversations with God, as Samuel would become one of God's prophets. Andrew had John the Baptist to point out Jesus as being the Lamb of God, inspiring Andrew to follow Jesus. "John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God.' The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus." We of course know that just like Samuel , Andrew will also begin a relationship with God this day forward as one of the 12 apostles. In each incident there was the need of a mentor to guide the pupil or student. Disciple means student. it refers to one who is being taught. We are reminded that we too are called to be disciples, thus we should look for those who can guide us in our prayer and point out the presence of Christ to us so that we too may deepen our relationship with God. ............................................................................................................................................................. Este domingo nuestras lecturas conspiran para recordarnos que la mayoría de nosotros necesitamos un poco de ayuda cuando se trata de las cosas de Dios. Samuel tenía a Elí para que le enseñara a escuchar y a orar. "Elí comprendió que el SEÑOR estaba llamando al joven. Entonces dijo a Samuel: Ve a dormir, y si te llaman, responde: Habla, SEÑOR, que tu siervo escucha". Samuel siguió el consejo de Elí y tuvo la primera de muchas conversaciones con Dios, ya que Samuel se convertiría en uno de los profetas de Dios. Andrés hizo que Juan el Bautista señalara a Jesús como el Cordero de Dios, inspirando a Andrés a seguir a Jesús. “Juan estaba de pie con dos de sus discípulos, y mientras veía a Jesús pasar, dijo: 'He aquí el Cordero de Dios'. Los dos discípulos oyeron lo que dijo y siguieron a Jesús ". Por supuesto, sabemos que al igual que Samuel, Andrés también comenzará una relación con Dios este día como uno de los 12 apóstoles. En cada incidente existía la necesidad de un mentor para guiar al alumno o estudiante. Discípulo significa estudiante. se refiere a alguien a quien se le está enseñando. Se nos recuerda que también nosotros estamos llamados a ser discípulos, por lo que debemos buscar a quienes puedan guiarnos en nuestra oración y señalarnos la presencia de Cristo para que nosotros también podamos profundizar nuestra relación con Dios.
