Director of Christian Formation
Jay first became a parishioner at CTR in 2001 while completing a Masters in Pastoral Studies at Washington Theological Union. His degree has a concentration on Mission and Cross Cultural Studies and he wrote his thesis on Jewish and Catholic relations. Originally living in Sterling Park, his family moved to Countryside in 2013.
He has been on CTR staff since 2006. He works with Grades 7-12 for sacramental preparation, Sunday Youth Ministry, and Adult Faith Formation. He also sings, plays piano, and guitar. He is on two CD Recordings with the St. Camillus Multicultural Choir from a Franciscan parish in Silver Spring. He has sung with them at the Papal Masses of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, and at numerous USCCB and Social Justice events in the DC metro area.
Jay comes from a family of first generation Filipinos. He has lived in Japan and Thailand, and also vacationed in the Philippines. He speaks Japanese and Spanish. Jay has a Jewish wife. They have one son, Joshua Emet, with God and a daughter, Hannah Joelle who entered the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil of 2014.
