During the first part of the RE Year, our parish completes a diocesan required program in class for additional compliance for child safety. For
K-8 the program is called
Formation in Christian Chastity. For
High School, the program is
Called to Protect.
In the lower grades, the Formation in Christian Chasity Program mostly consists of take home materials for the parents to review. Certain Grades have in-class components taught by the catechists. High School Classes watch a series of videos and participate in a guided instructional question and answer session.
More information about each program is available to the right under Links.
For grades with in-class actitivies, parents are sent a letter about the program prior to its start date. They are also given the opportunity to Opt-Out. Should they opt their children out, the children
should still come to RE on that class day, but an alternate class activity will be given to them in a separate room.
The Parent Opt-Out Form is als available available to the right under Links.
(A parent or student must give this form to the Catechist or RE Staff Person prior to the program start date in order to Opt-Out of this required class).
