The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (or RCIA) is a faith formation process by which unbaptized adults or unbaptized children over the age of reason join the Catechumenate on their way to being welcomed into the Catholic Church.
This catechumenal process involves several steps with Rites celebrated at certain times during the Liturgical Year leading to the celebration of Full Initiation into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. Those who go through this catechumenal process of the RCIA celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist all within the same Easter Vigil celebration. These newest members of the church begin their new life during our most joyous celebration of the Risen Lord.
Christian from another denomination who wish to be welcomed into full communion with the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Confirmation and Communion are also welcome to join this process for making a Profession of Faith.

College students and other adults who are beyond high school age but are interested in celebrating Confirmation (or Confirmation with First Communion) should speak with an RE Staff Member about celebrating Adult Confirmation at the Arlington Cathedral or in our parish during the Easter Season.
UPDATE (FEB 13, 2017):
In years past, adult confirmations were held at the St. Thomas More Cathedral in Arlington. This year, the dates and locations are different due to Bishop Burbidges schedule. Please note the different information for this year:
Interested Adults should contact an RE Staff person and ask about Adult Confirmation in English or in Spanish. They should do so no later than the end of January 2017.
